Mir Junaid calls on LG Murmu, seeks package for every Kashmiri

Srinagar, Jul 20: Recalling the promises of peace and prosperity as made by New Delhi in the wake of August 5 2019 decision, Jammu and Kashmir Workers Party President, Mir Junaid called on Lieutenant Governor, G.C Murmu and sought a “package for every Kashmiri.”Mir Junaid, President, JKWP held threadbare discussions on various issues confronting the people especially after the abrogation of article 370. “I raised several issues including Whatever was promised on floor of parliament during the abrogation of article 370 should be fulfilled, IPS induction issues, communication and infrastructure development in Chenab valley and Pir Panjal region to the issue of communities from Jammu, Special focus on the marginalized and minority communities of the UT including tribal ethnic groups like nomadic Gujjar & Bakarwals, Shina speaking community of Gurez valley and under privileged caste groups like Dalit Hindu community of Jammu and Muslim Dalit community of Wattals/ Sheikhs in Kashmir valley,” said Mir Junaid.He further added that discussions were also held on Inclusive Education System, Quality Formal Education, Informal Quality Education, Encouraging Sports in Student Community, Kashmiri Pandits Properties in Kashmir, Health Care Infrastructure, Sewage and Sanitation Works, Electricity and Pump Irrigation Schemes, Expansion of Railway Network and introduction of Metro Transit System, Establishing Samajik Panchayat, Establishing Gyan Panchayat, Combating the rampant menace of drug addiction, revival of the Cultural Activities, Pahari reservation, fulfillment of vacant posts, creation of JK team for IPL, waiving of electricity bills and many other things were discussed in threadbare said President, Jammu and Kashmir Workers Party, Mir Junaid. During his detailed interaction with the Lieutenant Governor at Raj Bhawan here, Junaid put forth detailed demands before the Government of Jammu and Kashmir seeking much-needed boost for every sector of the society. From employment package for youth to special aid for business community to incentives for agro sector, Mir also sought amnesty in power fee for both commercial and domestic consumers in the wake of economic slump.starting his discussion with the burning issue of the pandemic, Mir said there was a need that the JK government revamps its Covid19 related SOPs in line with specific needs of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said apart from improving the healthcare infrastructure, hiring of more doctors and paramedics to meet the challenge should be prioritized.He also said there was a need to bring in more of accountability in the system. “There is no dearth of Covid funds from Modi government but what is needed is more of transparency and accountability so that each
and every penny is spent judiciously to make JK Covid free,” Mir said adding “Doctors and paramedics need to be equipped with finest of the PPEs and other gears while more ventilators need to be procured.”
He appealed the LG that government employees from non-essential services in Kashmir be exempted from attending offices till the sudden spike in the Covid19 cases is brought under control adding that the
same was being applied in Jammu region.
He also demanded that government should solve the dispute over payment of fee to private educational institutions in a way that both the parents and schools get justice.
About youth, he said growing unemployment was a main reason of alienation and that it can be only addressed through a package of government jobs in particular.“promise of establishing 1600 playgrounds in Kashmir was still pending and that it needs to be
accomplished at an earliest,” said Mir.
He also demanded establishment of fitness centers across all localities and villages for a “fit Kashmir.”About the business community, Mir said the sector had been in red more so for the past around a year adding that government intervention through a special financial aid was the need of the hour to revive Kashmir Inc.Asking government to pump in more liquidity, the JK Workers Party President said: “Giving loans alone won’t do, as our dying business community badly needs financial package through interest waivers and
other amnesties.”

“UT and banks need to handhold Kashmir Inc and reconsider insurance policy for business community as a special case.”He also demanded special package including insurance and organized transportation of crop including apples to outside state in a time bound manner.
Seeking macadamisation of roads across Kashmir, Mir also sought release of pending bills of contractors before upcoming Eid Ul Azha.He also sought release of wages of daily wagers and appealed the government not to disengage any of the hired persons during such testing times.
While talking on metro link to Jammu and Kashmir, he said,
“It will be really a lifetime service towards people if metro comes and in this connection, I was assured that developmental works will be speeded up and metro line will be established. Besides the setup of IT industries which not only increase the economic value but also help in employment generation,” added Mir.

Mir further added that the meeting was held in an amicable atmosphere and the Lt Governor gave a patient hearing and assured all possible support from the Government to redress the issues confronting people of Jammu and Kashmir.

A memorandum cum observation highlighting important political and socio-economic issues faced by the people of the state was also submitted to the Lt. Governor.
