CEO says, not “maintainable”
The ” No Confidence Motion” against MC Baramulla President Umer Kakroo moved by councilors on Monday has been rejected. Atleast ten Councilors had moved a motion on Monday to Chief Executive Officer MC Baramulla informing him that they no longer supported Kakroo and he ( Kakroo) had lost their trust . However, on Tuesday the CEO rejected the motion terming it ” Non- maintenable” under Rule 25 Section 4 of J&K Muncipal Act ,2000.
The CEO in his letter to an Independent Councillor Aabid Salam War -who had moved the motion on behalf of 11 Councilors- vide Number MC/Bla/2020/848/51 dated 20/07/2020 said that No Confidence Motion against the President can not be admitted .
” Whereas in view of Rule 25 -Section 4 of J&K Muncipal Act, 2000 reads as ‘ Motion of No-Confidence under this section shall not be maintainable within one year of the date of election to such office and any subsequent motion of No-Confidence shall be maintainable within the interval of one year of the last motion on No-Confidence.
Accordingly in view of the above , the Motion of No-Confidence Submitted by You today on 20-07-2020 against President Mr. Umer Azhar Kakroo Muncipal Council Baramulla Cannot be admitted.” reads the letter, a copy of which lies with The News Cradle.
